Professional Soccer is now in Jaco Beach – Jaco Rays

The Jaco Rays is a professional soccer team that is playing in the second division here in Costa Rica. Professional meaning they are paid to play, but that does not translate into how they play. Hopefully the Jaco Rays will play like Liga or Saprissa in a few years. But for now, Jaco Rays soccer team now is on the map and is the only one here on the central Pacific coast of Costa Rica.

Flag Football is now in Jaco called JFFL

Jaco not only has a second division soccer team; but now has a flag football league! Called the Jaco Flag Football League, it has the makings of another great community gathering activity for residents of Jaco Beach and the surrounding metro area of Jaco. Victory! – Laura Chinchilla is the First Female President in Costa Rica

Laura Chinchilla, is now President Laura Chinchilla, on Sunday was elected the first female president in Costa Rica’s history, winning the popular vote with a 46.8% support with 94.2% of the ballots counted.
Laura Chinchilla’s win was apparent within a few hours of the closing of the voting, as rivals Ottón Solís and Otto Guevara declared defeat, not even waiting for the vote count to reach the half way mark.

Long Lines at Costa Rica Voting Stations but No Surprises

At the Laura Chinchilla visitor center for voters in Heredia Costa Rica is filled with supporters and voters. The crowds are peaceful and mostly holding Partido Liberacion Nacional banners and flags which are green and white.
