BYU vs Jaco Rays is this Saturday May 12 at 7pm

The BYU men’s soccer team kicked off their 10-day preseason international tour Friday when they boarded a plane for Costa Rica.
“This trip is huge,” junior midfielder Antonio Niccoli said. “This is my third international trip so I know how important they are to bonding off the field. We don’t have cell phones or computers…we just spend time together.”

Costa Rican surfer, Carlos Munoz, is making his mark and earning Costa Rica a place in world surfing fame at the Volcom Pipe Pro 2012 competition in Hawaii this week.
The 18-year-old wave rider from Playa Esterillos scored the first perfect 10 of the world-famous international competition on Sunday, Jan. 29 – Day 2 of the event. Garabito mayor and top officials arrested today in Jaco

The Deputy Prosecutor of Probity, Transparency and Corruption, in conjunction with the Judicial Investigation Organization  (OIJ), today arrested the mayor, deputy mayor, the head of the Municipal Police, the municipal provider and a private attorney during a raid that took place in offices of the municipality of Garabito in Jaco Costa Rica.
The action of the authorities began August 10, Wednesday morning at 9:10 am as part of an investigation into alleged irregular payments of some work not performed for work that supposedly occurred in 2008.

Clinica Jaco Suffers Cutbacks

Beginning last week the Clinica Jaco also known as the  Clinical Social Security Fund (CCSS) will not work the night shift. This means all emergencies during the night must be taken to either Quepos or Puntarenas hospital. According to the clinica Jaco and CCSS the changes in service is due to lack of funding. This order is coming from the country’s ministry of Costa Rica’s universal healthcare.

JACO & HERMOSA RECEIVE BLUE FLAG
For the second consecutive year, the city of Jaco recently received the Blue Flag award along with the surfing beach of Playa Hermosa, the site of the BILLABONG ISA 2009 WORLD SURFING GAMES.
